Abstract

The paper is aimed at expanding scientific knowledge about the resources of the individual, contributing to his self-realization in society. Self-realization of a person in society and the quality of life largely determines not only how constructively can a person adapt in society, overcome life difficulties and solve life problems, reflect on himself and understand another in a specific situation and circumstances, but also go to the level of non-adaptation resources that allow a person not only to adapt passively to the circumstances surrounding him, but also to adapt these circumstances “for himself”, acting as an integrator of adaptive and non-adaptation resources. The paper presents the results of theoretical and empirical research, proving the lack of explanation of the constructive mechanisms of human behavior only from the perspective of the adaptive approach. The role of the active position of the individual himself is determined, who is capable of reaching the level of functioning of integration resources (cognitive and behavioral levels) that allow one not only to adapt to the circumstances surrounding him, but also to influence them actively, transforming them for himself and extracting resources from the most contradictory, uncertain or a rapidly changing situation. The issue of the effective interaction of a person with the surrounding reality in the “personality-environment” system is revealed: not only from the standpoint of what a person “has” and what “possesses” (resources of the “possessing” spectrum) for solving emerging problems, but also from the position of resources of the “existential” spectrum combining adaptive and non-adaptive mechanisms underlying the productive orientation of a person. The authors have determined the role and place of a person’s mode orientations in the regulation of cognitive and values and meaning spheres, especially in relation to the formation of a person’s social environment by himself, which makes it possible to focus precisely on the socio-psychological, rather than the general psychological approach.
