Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the protective and therapeutic role of pomegranate peel extract to reduce profen oxidative stress and improvement liver and kidney functions. The results showed significant increase in MDA, AST, ALP, urea and creatinine and significant decrease in the levels of T-aoc. , SOD and GST in profen in the group treated with profen alone compared with other groups, While groups that were treated with the extract of pomegranate peel and profen showed significant improvement in those parameters. By our study we conclude that pomegranate peel extract has the ability to improvement the oxidant-antioxidant balance and the therapeutic role of pomegranate peel extract was more effective than the protective role.
