Abstract

The article presents the analysis results of the concepts of “ecological-psychological competence” and “ecological-psychological competency”. It has been proved that ecological and psychological competences refer to the general cultural competences of high school graduates and are a prerequisite for the formation and development of a competitive specialist. The definition of competitiveness in the framework of the ecological-psychological approach has been given, which includes a socially oriented system of abilities, properties and qualities of the person. These qualities characterize its potential in achieving success (at school, in professional and non-professional life activities), which determines adequate individual behavior in dynamically changing conditions, providing internal confidence in oneself, harmony with oneself and the world around. It has been shown that ecological and psychological competences provide the graduate with the ability to evaluate the results and consequences of their activities from the point of view of biosphere compatibility, an understanding of the nature of the natural limits of modern socio-economic development and the causes of environmental crises and global risks. It has been substantiated that environmental disciplines should reflect a systematic understanding of a person’s place in the global ecosphere, analyze his activity as a part of the biosphere, inter-level interactions in world, state and public environmental policies. The instruction of environmental disciplines should be based on the formation of basic ideas among students about the modern system of environmental disciplines and the nature of the natural limits of modern socio-economic development. The author has substantiated the necessity of ecological and psychological education as an important stage in the formation of the ecological culture of society.
