Abstract

This paper investigate the effects of parity, year and type of ewe birth on age at first lambing, conception (CR) and twining rate (TR) in 156, 936 and 808 Awassi ewes respectively, born at Al-Najaf animal breeding station private sector during 1993-1995 and 1996-1999, also the effects of regression of CR and TR on dam weight at weight at lambing were studied.
The overall mean for age at first lambing. CR and TR was 27.6 months, 86.32% and 20.42% respectively. Conception rate was significantly affected by parity and year of ewe birth, while TR was found to be affected significantly only parity. Effect of year of ewe birth on age at first lambing was significant.
The effect of regression of CR and TR on dam weight at lambing was not significant.
