Distribution of some efflux pump system genes among environmental isolates of acinetobacter baumannii

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the distribution of efflux pump coding genes among environmental isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii. Contaminated soil (240 samples) were collected from landfills waste in Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf city from December 2012 to December 2014.the results showed that 75 isolates have been identified as A. baumannii by conventional methods (Growth at 45˚C) and by PCR technique ( appearance of amplicon with molecular length 397bp). The antibiotics resistance pattern of A. baumannii revealed that the percentage of antibiotic resistance to tetracycline and rifampin were 100% while it were 77.3% to tobramycin and 97% to both carbenicillin and chloramphenicol and a variable patteren have been observed to other tested antibiotic. ade A, ade B, ade C, ade R and adeS genes have been detected with variable percentage among multiple antibiotic resistance A. baumannii isolates.
